Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie and our local State Member, John Barounis MP, to our Kent Street facility. It was a fantastic opportunity to take them through our workshop floor and showcase our high-capacity company in live action.
Walking the leaders through our heavy metal fabrication lines allowed us to demonstrate exactly how regional manufacturing is meeting complex, sovereign-grade engineering standards right here in the Wide Bay. Having our local member and state leadership witness the hard work of our tradespeople and apprentices reinforces that Maryborough’s industrial future is backed by strong, collaborative advocacy.

At Global Manufacturing Group, our mission has always been clear: to prove that regional Queensland can engineer and deliver heavy fabrication on a truly world-class scale. With our facility fully equipped for complete turnkey processing—from multi-axis cutting, certified welding to certified industrial coating—we pride ourselves on being a foundational pillar of Maryborough’s local economy.
The state government’s recent launch of its $925,000 Wide Bay Manufacturing Hub right here in Maryborough signals a massive vote of confidence in the region’s technical capability. For our team, this local momentum directly matches our own trajectory as we scale up our industrial operations to meet the rigorous demands of Australia’s defence and heavy transit sectors.
Driving Major Queensland Supply Chains
Government commitments to domestic engineering mean that GMG’s highly skilled workforce is actively engaged in the state’s most critical supply networks:
- The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP): We are proud to be an active supplier for this historic multi-billion-dollar transit pipeline. Using our high-capacity precision machinery, our facility is delivering crucial laser-cutting services and structural metal fabrication for train car bodies destined for the primary integration site just 25km up the road in Torbanlea.
- Global Defence Engineering: Backed by previous industrial funding to install cutting-edge machinery, we continue to fulfill strict components manufacturing for prime contractors.
- Investing in the Next Generation: The expansion of localized training through the new Manufacturing Hub directly aligns with our active apprenticeships program. We are committed to developing internal trade skills on-site, ensuring local Maryborough youth can build sustainable careers in advanced industrial manufacturing.
When state leaders and industry stakeholders visit our regional fabrication lines, it highlights the immense capacity of regional manufacturing. We are not just building components at GMG; we are actively securing Australia’s engineering independence right from the heart of the Wide Bay.
